Oh geez....

I just want to apologize to anyone who saw the last post (that has since been erased). Shane decided it would be a fun trick to hack into my blog and post a typically inappropriate picture. Sorry! Looks like it's time to change the password...

Just Us Girls

This weekend Shane is headed off to a lovely place for a training session and Nora and I are spending the weekend alone together. This really would be quite lovely except for the fact that Shane needed to bring his computer. However, being the sweet husband he is, he gave me his school laptop to use this weekend. Heaven forbid I should be without internet for the whole weekend. I mean, geeze, I already went a whole day. Thank goodness for Shane. Unfortunately, without the other laptop I can't load any of our pictures. This means that there won't be any new Nora pics for the weekend. Sad, I know, but I'll supplement with a few old pictures I have on photobucket.
In recent news, Nora has cut her second tooth! I didn't actually notice until a secretary at the school pointed it out this morning when I dropped Shane off. So, two teeth in two weeks. You would think I would have an awfully crabby baby, but Nora has once again impressed us. She's as happy as ever, just waking up a bit earlier than I'm used to. Other than that, it's business as usual here.

I promise, come Monday I will have our laptop back and will update everyone on the teething process and general cuteness happening here. Snow Day!

Yesterday we were awoken very early to the sound of the phone ringing. Lovely! A snow day! We fell back asleep (well, Nora never actually woke up, thank goodness) and were able to sleep in to the late hour of 6:30. I got up and started getting Nora ready to go upstairs when Shane asked me to leave her downstairs- he wanted to hang out with her. Oh, the excitement! I scurried around brushing my teeth and putting in contacts, trying to get upstairs as fast as I could. I wanted as much quiet time as possible, and what a morning I had.
A couple pieces of vegetable frittata, some WHO toast, a cup of tea from our favorite food store, and my favorite radio station. Honestly, I was in heaven. And fifteen minutes later when my two favorite people came upstairs in their jammies and with a favorite book, I was even more so.
Without the computer to distract me, and with Shane around to occupy Nora, I got quite a bit done. A few smocks were made, the kitchen was cleaned up, laundry was done and I even made banana muffins. All this before a trip into town for pilates.
Here the sweet baby girl models one of the smocks I finished. This one isn't exactly her size, but Barkley wasn't about to try it on for me.










Later in the afternoon I was given another little treat. While I sat down to enjoy (another) little snack of chocolate soy milk and a banana muffin, Shane and Nora got down to the business of cleaning up. She later fell asleep on his back.

No, I'm not cheating...

For those of you who don't stay up past the nine o'clock hour, you may be wondering why there is a new post. Well, I couldn't resist throwing a few more Nora pictures your way to tide you over until Thursday. (These are especially for you, Ash.)
This evening Nora had an egg for dinner for the first time. She wasn't entirely impressed with it, although she did seem to enjoy picking up the minute pieces of egg I had scattered across her high chair tray and flinging them in the general direction of Barkley. She knows exactly what she's doing; just look at the concentration on her face as she tries to dissect the egg piece.
Recently, my mom recommended that we capture Nora's toothless grin before it gives way to a mouth full of teeth. Seeing as we rarely take pictures of her, I thought I would take a few today to show everyone what impressive gums she has. See?
She's very advanced, our girl. Only 8 1/2 months old and has a grand total of... (Drumroll, please.)
ONE tooth! Yup, a whole tooth has sprouted in that beautiful little mouth of hers. We're predicting she'll be eating corn chips by the fourth grade. We're so proud!
Well, have a productive Wednesday, everyone. If you're in the area, chances are you might be hanging out at home for the day. (Or, if you're like me, you'll still be hanging out at home for the day.)
Try to do something you want to do that doesn't involve the computer or tv. I know I've been eyeing the sewing machine for a few days. It's back from the service center and calling to me every time I walk past, but for some reason the computer seems to call louder. I'll be sure to do a little sewing tomorrow and post some of my results on Thursday. In the meantime, ciao!

For those of you who haven't noticed, I posted a new logo on the sidebar. We're going to try to go computer-free on Wednesdays from now on. I think this is kind of a necessary adjustment. Way too much time is spent on the computer here, (by me, of course) so I'm looking to change that. We'll see how well I do.
Today Nora fell asleep on her own (kind of) in the pack and play. I stayed in the room folding laundry and picking up so that occasionally she would see me as I walked by and eventually, (maybe twenty minutes later) she fell asleep. When she woke up we played on the bed for a bit (hence the pictures) and then went outside and enjoyed the glorious weather. It is near 50 degrees here! Of course, being that we are in Maine we are expecting an ice storm tonight. Oh well, we'll take what we can get at this point.
Nora had a great time on my back as I shoveled out the sad-looking mailbox. Poor thing is on it's last legs after being taken out by the plow one too many times. Luckily I was able to stand it back up for the time being. We'll cross our fingers that it makes it to spring.
Unfortunately the battery in the camera died this morning and I forgot to charge it, so we don't have any pictures of our outing. Maybe after this lovely weather storms through tomorrow we'll venture out. Until then, au revoir everyone!

Home again, home again...

Well, after a relatively productive weekend we're back home. The storm that arrived over the weekend had much more of an impact up here. The plow has created ridiculously huge piles of snow around our yard. If Nora was older, I'm sure she would be outside right now sliding down them, but instead I propped her up against one to give you an idea:

Keep in mind that she isn't even on the ground- I just stuck her into one of the banks. Jenny and Toby: are you sure you want to move here??

Oh wait, that's right, this little one lives here. Of course you want to come live in Maine!! And someday, in the next two months or so, this will all melt away to reveal a beautiful....
